Jason Lin, senior at Dalton High School, has been recognized as this year's winner of the Karen Lightbody Scholarship for his outstanding piano skills. The Karen Lightbody Kirkman Piano Scholarship is administered by the Dalton Education Foundation. It is gifted to one applicant a year and pays for the recipient's continued musical lessons.

DHS Honors 2018 Scholar Athletes

Dalton High School honored 74 Scholar Athletes at their annual Scholar Athlete Banquet, hosted at the Dalton Golf & Country Club on March 22. Out of the 74 Student Athletes, there were 11 Seniors recognized as 4-Year Scholar Athletes. These students earned the Scholar Athlete Award all four years and earned a cord for graduation.

Principal Steve Bartoo said he is proud of the scholar athletes. "I'm proud of their accomplishments on the playing field or court and in the classroom," he said. "I'm especially proud of our 11 Seniors who were honored as 4 year Scholar Athletes. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication and commitment to achieve such an honor."

*Students may apply for the Scholar Athlete award if they meet the following criteria:

  • Must have a 3.5 or above weighted GPA
  • Must have participated in two or more GHSA Activities (in 2 or more seasons) during the 2017-2018 school year
  • Adhered to the Dalton Public Schools Interscholastic/Extracurricular Activities Student Behavior and Conduct Expectations
