Dear Seniors,

We want to let each of you know we miss you greatly! Your counselors, college transition coach, and school social worker are still here to help you - virtually! Please reach out if you need anything, have questions about next steps after graduation, or just need to talk! (CONTACT INFO)

Scholarships are still available. Most deadlines are quickly approaching - so hopefully you all will apply soon! You may email completed applications/essays to me at or drop them by the front office at DHS by the deadline. Feel free to email me with any questions!

Make sure to have someone proofread your essay and application before submitting it. There is a lot of scholarship money at colleges/universities through the institution and/or foundations. If you want to know if the college you have applied to has scholarships, search for the scholarship site on your college/university's website. Many institutional scholarship processes are different. Pay CLOSE attention to deadlines for admission applications and scholarship application deadlines. Don't let the money run out before you decide to apply!

Good luck!!

Ms. Gallman

New for the Class of 2021

The College Board Opportunity Scholarships program opens in December for your juniors. Save the getting started steps below and schedule a kick-off activity before winter break.

Early efforts will get rewarded! Students who've already taken action to build their college list on BigFuture™ and link their College Board and Khan Academy® accounts to practice for the SAT® on Official SAT Practice will automatically earn a scholarship entry when they join the program once it opens next month.

Getting Your Juniors Started in December

Students should join the program by signing in with their existing College Board account (same one they used for the SAT and PSAT/NMSQT®) or they can create an account if they don’t have one.

They should click on the yellow Earn Scholarships button at the top of the homepage.

They should review the official rules on the Opt In screen and click Agree. Then they’re ready to start turning their efforts into scholarships!
