Good afternoon Dalton Public Schools community, my name is Tim Scott, superintendent of Dalton Public Schools. I want to share with you today a little bit about what we're doing as we begin our new school year on August 31. Once again, we'll be beginning school August 31.

Parents, we need you to fill out an application for your child to either go virtual or face-to-face by August 4. That form is out now, please make sure you fill it out, it's very important that you fill one out for each child in the family. Each child in the family has to have a form, if you would like that child to go virtual or face-to-face.

Parents, I want to thank you for your patience as we work through this process, and just ask you please get that information in as soon as you can. We're trying to get all that information, once again, by August 4.

At this time, I'd like to introduce you to our director of operations, Rusty Lount.

Thank you, Dr. Scott. We're just really fortunate, we have a lot of disposable masks for the front offices of our schools.

We also have thermometers for all of our staff to take care of the students as they come in the schools to make sure everybody's healthy and well.

We have nylon gloves for all of our staff, our custodians, they're going to keep the schools nice and clean.

We also have purchased face shields for all our teachers so they can protect their eyes from any infections or germs that may come their way.

We also have automatic dispensers throughout the schools, so they'll be able to keep hand sanitizer when they need it.

GEMA provided us with a lot of washable face masks, so there will be face masks for all the staff and students and they'll be available.

We have wipes for classrooms, we purchased thousands and thousands of gallons of hand sanitizer. We also have single gallon jugs that will be in every classroom along with the quart bottles of cleaner for the staff to clean with microfiber towels.

We also have a way to spray down our playground equipment and those type of things when we really have a saturated area, to keep it safe and clean for everyone.

We're doing our best to keep our schools safe and clean for all of our students.

Well, Rusty, I appreciate it. It looks like just a little sample of what we have, and we have more in the warehouse.

We want to say a big thank you to Shaw who went down to Macon, GA to pick a lot of this merchandise up and brought it back, not only to our schools, but to a good many schools in the Northwest Georgia region.

And also, we bought a lot of this, but a lot of it was donated, is that correct?

That's right. We were really fortunate to get a lot from GEMA and a lot from some local industries in our area who have been really generous to help us out, so we're in good shape.

Absolutely, our industry in our area has done an outstanding job and we appreciate the support from everyone as we have done that. Rusty, thank you man, your department has done a great job and we appreciate all you do.

Once again, parents, this is just a little bit about what we're doing to try to prepare for school on August 31. We want to try to make sure our staff, students are safe in all that we do. We'll continue to purchase items, we'll continue to try to stock up and make sure we have extra as we go throughout the school year. And, don't forget, please fill out your application and have it in by August 4. And we look forward to seeing everyone on August 31 when school starts.
