Here's another fun Winter poem from PAWZ!

Windows sparkle with icy lace,
and frosty patterns we can trace.
Crunchy footsteps, breath so white —
winter mornings are pure delight

In Mr. Allred’s Science class, scientists are learning about electrons and the electron transfer. Students are using balloons to demonstrate this phenomenon. Even with all the humidity making things more challenging, they had fun and learned!

As we kick off the new year, PAWZ would like to remind our Panthers to remember to kick it safely in PE and Dance/Tumbling!

Proper athletic shoes give students the support they need to run, jump, and play without slipping or getting hurt. To help everyone participate safely, please make sure your child wears closed-toe shoes, ideally tennis shoes. Shoes with heels are not allowed, as they can damage our equipment. Shoes that stay securely on the feet — like sneakers with laces or Velcro — help prevent trips and falls. Sandals, boots, Crocs, or flip-flops can make it hard to participate fully and safely. We also encourage athletic or comfortable play clothes—leggings, shorts, or t-shirts work great!

While no child will ever be left out because of their clothing, proper attire helps students move more freely and comfortably during class.

Please help your child be ready for PE and Dance/Tumbling by sending them in comfortable, well-fitting athletic shoes on these specials days. The right footwear helps your child do their best and stay injury-free!

You may notice your child bringing home poems, jokes, or playful language from school! Poetry and humor are important parts of learning because they help students understand figurative language—such as similes, metaphors, rhyme, and wordplay. Exploring poems and jokes builds vocabulary, strengthens reading comprehension, and encourages creative thinking. Most importantly, it helps students see that language can be meaningful and fun. We encourage families to enjoy poems and jokes together at home and talk about what the words really mean beyond their literal definitions. Here's one to talk about with your child this week as you discuss dressing for the weather!

🧣 Button up, it’s cold today!
Winter winds are here to play.
Scarves, mittens, and hats so snug —
nothing beats a warm winter hug. ❤️

PAWS is so proud of our Glee Club as they have been busy spreading PAWliday cheer during these past 2 days! They visited our local senior center for a concert and then kicked off our Family Night last night with a concert. Thank you for getting us in the PAWliday spirit!

Today was a bittersweet day at the 405! Our beloved mascot, PAWS, revealed his retirement to our students and staff. But no one got their tinsel in a tangle because they learned that though PAWS has slowed down a bit, he has not stopped spreading PAWSitivity completely! For his dear friend Santa Claus came to whisk him away in his sleigh just in time to help spread kindness and compassion across the globe this PAWliday season!

AND! PAWS passed the paw to his hip, energetic young cousin, PAWZ! The City Park Panthers got to meet the new face of the CP today at our pep session as PAWZ stepped in and hyped our crowd! We went from mascot to mascat and the legacy of PAWSitivity lived on!

The passing of the paw is a moment we will always remember at the CP! Thank you, PAWS, for your contributions to City Park over the past 25 years. You have represented the 405 with kindness, compassion, and inclusivity. You have shown us what it means to be a Panther. You deserve time to rest, and we are so proud that you have been chosen by the big guy himself to help spread cheer! We know you will stop in to visit every MEOW and then!
