The DHS Boys Swim Team claimed the 6A State Championship title in February of 2020 at the GA Tech Aquatics Center. This is the 4th State Title in the program's history. The team placed 2nd in State in 2021.

Fine Arts Academy of DHS
As the high schools in the system progress into an academy format, the first academy was formed in 2019-2020 featuring all of the fine arts programs.
There are almost 1800 students enrolled at Dalton High School with grades 10-12 and more than 100 dedicated teachers and staff members.
DHS recognized as AP HONOR SCHOOL
The Mariachi Band at Dalton High School was recently invited to perform for students and staff at Jacksonville State University.
Dalton High School senior Ansley Nguyen was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education as a 2022 Georgia Scholar.
Dalton High School has once again been recognized as an Advanced Placement (AP) Honor School in the categories of AP Access and Support School and AP STEM School.
Recently, Forberger, a junior at Dalton High School, won first place in the state literary competition in the category of domestic extemporaneous speaking.
DHS JROTC Cadet Path Karande was accepted into the summer seminar at the United States Naval Academy. This prestigious summer program has an acceptance rate of less than nine percent.
At the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year, the district’s school nutrition department was facing an unprecedented staff shortage. In a brand-new partnership with the high school Work Based Learning program, Dalton Public Schools is filling those vacant positions using student workers.
Dalton High School alum Cedric Haynes predicted his career in weather forecasting at an early age. From his role in hosting the recess forecast, to his current job as a meteorologist for WRCB Channel 3, Haynes’ credits much of his success to the drive given to him by Dalton Public Schools educators.
Dalton Public Schools has been named a CyberStart District of Distinction by the National Cyber Scholarship Foundation. Dalton High School was recognized as a Cyber Opportunity School.
When she was a student at Dalton High School, Gabrielle Nelloms didn’t know what she wanted to do after graduation except that she wanted to be on television. Today, just eight years after graduating from DHS, Nelloms has realized her dreams working as a cross platform associate producer at CNN in Atlanta.
