The DHS Boys Swim Team claimed the 6A State Championship title in February of 2020 at the GA Tech Aquatics Center. This is the 4th State Title in the program's history. The team placed 2nd in State in 2021.

The Fine Arts Academy was formed in 2019-2020 featuring all of the fine arts programs for music, art, theater, and film.

DHS recognized as AP HONOR SCHOOL
This year, Dalton Public Schools launched two new after school programs for students in junior high school and high school. Cat City is for students attending Dalton Junior High School (8th – 9th grade), and Cat University is for students attending Dalton High School or The Dalton Academy (10th – 12th grade).
This October, Dalton Public Schools opened its doors to host 20 exchange students from the Martino-Katharineum school in Braunschweig, Germany. Students spent ten days staying with host families, attending school and participating in activities in the area.
For three decades, the same voice has boomed over the speakers at every Catamount home game. Rick Zeisig became the Voice of the Catamounts in 1992, and since then has been announcing every Dalton High School home game.
During halftime of Dalton High School’s first football game of the season, Jeff McKinney was announced as this year’s Tom Jones Educator of the Year.
Every year, many students attending Dalton High School take Advanced Placement (AP) exams. For some of those students, their exam scores will earn them the distinction of being named an AP Scholar.
Dalton Public Schools was recently awarded two new 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) grants by the Georgia Department of Education. The district will receive a total of $2,077,910 over five years.
