State Champions
The DHS Boys Swim Team claimed the 6A State Championship title in February of 2020 at the GA Tech Aquatics Center. This is the 4th State Title in the program's history. The team placed 2nd in State in 2021.

Four Dalton schools were recently awarded Opportunity Grants through the Georgia Department of Education. The grants went to Paul Weaver, physical education teacher at Brookwood School; Clay Fissel, music teacher at Roan School; Tiffany Hunt, music teacher at Westwood School; and Courtenay Cholovich, theatre arts teacher at Hammond Creek Middle School.
The Dalton Public Schools communications department has once again been recognized as award winners by the Georgia School Public Relations Association (GSRPA).
Josh Deslattes will be moving to Dalton High School as the new assistant principal. He currently serves as an assistant principal at The Dalton Academy.
Dr. Ryan Richards has been named the athletic director at Dalton High School for the 2023-24 school year. The board approved his appointment at its regular meeting last night. He currently serves as the head basketball coach and social studies teacher at Northwest High School.
Dalton High School’s National Honor Society’s President, Parth Karande, was recently selected as a National Semi-Finalist for the National Honor Society Scholarship!
For Julian Meza, a student at City Park School, being in a wheelchair means constantly learning new skills and strategiesto adapt to his environment. In a recent assembly, Julian was surprised with the gift of a lifetime as the Specially Gifted Foundation rolled out his custom adaptive bike.
Sara Webb, Hammond Creek Middle School band director, has been selected to participate in the 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade®.
The end of February also marks the end of American Heart Month, a time when students and staff are encouraged to focus on their cardiovascular health. For Jerry Bruce Hennon, a student at The Dalton Academy enrolled in the D3 virtual program, sharing the importance of heart health is second nature.
The Dalton Board of Education has approved Dr. Steven Craft as the chief of student services and activities for the district, effective April 10.
